Phil joined KJCK in December 2009. He currently serves as afternoon anchor of First News and covers general news assignments, including regular coverage of the Junction City Commission and the Geary County Commission.
Before joining the Talk of JC, Phil worked as a general assignment reporter and evening news anchor at KFDI radio in Wichita. While there, Phil was a part of the station’s well-known and award-winning news and severe weather coverage. Phil is excited to be on the staff of another highly respected Kansas radio news department.
A self-described farm and small town kid, Phil knows the importance of knowing what’s going on in the community around you. He sees his job as a journalist as that of a community partner. It is his goal each day to ensure his audience has all the information they deserve about what is going on in their community.
Phil’s work has been recognized by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and the National Association of Farm Broadcasting. He has also contributed to news coverage that received regional and national Edward R. Murrow awards.
Phil is a 2008 graduate of Kansas State University, where he studied agricultural communications. In addition to his duties with Platinum Broadcasting, Phil maintains an active role in the family farming operation in Sumner County.
